Good aftercare keeps the curl springy and stops it dropping: wash gently and less often, feed it moisture weekly, and revive the curl shape with a cream or essence instead of heat.

Wait about 48 hours. A perm needs a day or two for its new bonds to fully set, and washing too soon can relax the curl before it locks in. After that, wash less often than you used to — permed hair holds its shape best with a two-to-three-day gap — and skip harsh clarifying shampoos, which strip the moisture a curl needs to stay springy.
Why is my perm going dry and frizzy?
Because perming opens the cuticle and spends the hair's internal moisture and protein to build the new curl. Coarse Asian hair that felt healthy can suddenly read as porous and rough. The answer isn't to wash the dryness away but to put moisture and a little protein back every week — a dry curl is a curl about to drop, so feeding it is how you keep the shape.
How do I bring my curl back to life between washes?
Wet it lightly and re-scrunch with a curl cream or essence. Curls are elastic: a little water reactivates the shape, and a curl-defining cream or mist gives it something to hold onto. Scrunch upward with your palms and never brush dry — brushing splits a perm into frizz. Air-dry, or diffuse on low heat, and the curl springs back.
